Here is my original poem “Christmas Chickens: 3 French Hens”. This poem is one that painted a picture in my mind so well that I decided I had to literally paint a picture to bring my vision to life. My painting is my own adaptation from The Art Sherpa’s funny chicken painting tutorial on YouTube. I’ll link it at the end of this post. The best part about my painting is that it brings a smile to my husband’s face and I hope you get a kick out of it, too.
My inspiration for the poem is a combination of life on the farm, being a fashion lover and the lyrics of “The 12 Days of Christmas”. That Christmas song holds a lot of meaning to me as my grandmother had a set of “The 12 Days of Christmas” water glasses that were handed down to my mother when she started hosting Christmas dinner. As a child I relished setting the tables and helping to set out the glasses and trying to keep the lyrics straight. How many pipers, maids a milking and ladies dancing are there again? No matter, we’d just listen to the song again and try, like a game, to keep it all in correct order. I just knew that the chickens in my poem, always sang it perfectly. And with that being said, please enjoy my Christmas gift to you!

Until next time and à bientôt! Brittany
